In 1998, Sanford Health Plan was created as a physician-directed, non-profit health plan. Since this time, we have been committed to providing a higher standard of health care coverage and to improving the quality of care for every member. Our benefits are focused on prevention and designed as a unique alternative to existing health insurance packages in our region. Applying our expertise in health care administration, quality patient care and network development, we have created a health plan that focuses on the health and well being of our members.

The key to our success is our network of primary care physicians, specialists and hospitals. In partnership with these health care providers, we actively promote health care education, prevention and early detection. Together we understand the need to deliver the best patient care while promoting good community health and maintaining cost-effective solutions. Because high quality care is our priority, our network of providers is subject to strict credentialing guidelines and performance reviews. Board Member Nominations Are Now Being Accepted!

Did you know that Health Plan Members just like you sit on the Sanford Health Plan Board of Directors? Consumer Directors make up a portion of the Plan’s Board and are responsible for performing business functions as required by state laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements. Consumer Directors must be insured by Sanford Health Plan, however, they can be an active employee or a retiree.

You may also contact Member Services at (605) 328-6800 or toll free at 1-800-752-5863 and request that a Consumer Nomination Form be mailed to you. Nominated consumers will be requested to complete a Board Application form that must be submitted to the Board of Director’s for review and approval.
